Existing Clients

There’s a natural tendency with any operation to concentrate on the task at hand. From our end, this often means dealing with new clients who want new web sites, or existing clients who contact us to get their current site restructured and developed. From your end, you probably keep thinking about doing something to your web site, but there just aren’t enough hours in the day to get round to actually do it.

As a result, we can go months or years without properly speaking to existing clients that we’ve built sites for in previous years, or who’s services we just host. And your web site just stays as it is.

We don’t lose many clients, but when we do we, in the main it is because they feel neglected and someone’s nipped in behind us and told them that they can do a better job or do it cheaper – or both. In fact, now I come to think of it, it reminds me of how I broke up with my first girlfriend!

The other sticking point is budget. There is a tendency to either not face up to what you need to do, or to believe what you want to hear. Snap out of it! These are the facts; The Internet is where everything is headed and a good web site takes time, costs money and needs to be properly marketed. Anyone in your field who is successful is spending a lot of money via the Internet. We can only tell you how it is, and if you don’t agree with that, there are hundreds of web design consultancies who will tell you what you DO want to hear!

Over the years, we have set up no end of low cost web sites and performed basic optimisation for the search engines. They do a job so to speak, and get people started. However, there is a world of difference between being satisfied with getting “some” business from your web site and it being the core of your business as it develops. Although we – along with other suppliers – will continue to host these older web sites, they’ll never perform like or compete with newer web sites.

When a client with an older web site and very low site stats says they are satisfied with what they are currently doing, one thing is for sure, they will lose market share, because other businesses will do what they are currently doing, but do it miles better! The Internet will only ever be more important than it is now, and businesses need to adjust their mindset accordingly.

We’ll always find time to discuss your needs, and provide advice or practical solutions, but building and marketing a successful web site is a on ongoing, time consuming and often costly business.
