Instructions for setting up access permissions for a section/page so that it is password protected or to allow someone else to edit a specific page:

First step is to create the user

1.a] Go into Control Panel. Once in Control Panel click on Users. Then in Users and Groups click on Users.

1.b] Then Click on Add at the top right

Insert the username you choose for them, insert the password you choose for them, insert their email address (or yours if you want – but you need to insert an address).

Then click Save and then Return. You’ll see the new member in the list.

The next step is to assign access permissions for this user – ie do you want them to be able to edit a page or view it.

If you want to allow the user to be able to edit a page or section:

2.a] Go to the page you want to password protect. At the bottom of the page click on Access Permissions.

2.b] Under User or Group select Group, type “Administrators” under Group Name and check all 3 checkboxes under See, View, Edit and click Set.

This will ensure that you and other “Full” Administrators are still allowed to edit the page.

2.c] Leave User selected under User or Group and type the name of the user you wish to allow in the User Name field. Check all 3 checkboxes under See, View and Edit and click Set.

You should now see the name of that user with its permissions in the list below.

2.d] Check the new access permissions

Or, if you want to simply password protect a page or section:

3.a] Go to the page you want to password protect. At the bottom of the page click on Access Permissions.

3.b] Under User or Group select Group, type “Administrators” under Group Name and check all 3 checkboxes under See, View, Edit and click Set.

This will ensure that Administrators are still allowed to edit the page.

3.c] Under User or Group select Group, type “Everyone” under Group Name and UN-check all 3 checkboxes under See, View, Edit and click Set.

You should now see Administrators with permissions “yes yes yes” and Everyone with permissions “no no no” in the list below.

3.d] Leave User selected under User or Group and type the name of the user you wish to allow in the User Name field. Leave See and View checked and click Set.

You should now see the name of that user with its permissions in the list below.

3.e] Check the new access permissions
