It's hard to imagine having a more exotic client than an eco-lodge situated on a tiny private island in the Indian Ocean, over 60 miles away from the nearest land!
In many ways Bird Island are the sort of business that the Internet was made for. In the old days, before the Internet, they relied on tour operators and holiday firms. Nowadays their customers can bypass these by going straight to the website and booking direct.
Their old website was not mobile friendly and although they had fabulous images, the content was not presented professionally or updated that often. In addition, there was a lot of information that would have been useful for guests to know about before visiting the Island which wasn't included in their old site.
Over half their guests come from France and Germany and they had been using Google's translation service for these languages. We suggested having 3 professionally translated versions of their website, and ensured these pages were all properly optimised in each language for Google so the site was indexed in Google.fr, Google.de as well as google.co.uk and .com.
The result is that site visitors have increased dramatically and occupancy of their 24 rooms now runs at over 90%.
With a site like this, it is all about building customer confidence and ensuring that the magic of Bird Island is immediately apparent from the very first glance at the website.
